IT’S ALL-IN TO WIN TIME FOR FINN LAHTI’S EWC PIT-LANE ENDURANCE TEAM
Eemeli Lahti affirme que lui et ses nouveaux coéquipiers de Pit-Lane Endurance vont « se battre à 100 % pour les victoires » dans la Coupe du Monde FIM d’Endurance en 2024, ajoutant que personne dans l’équipe basée en France n’est « juste là pour piloter les motos ».
Le talentueux Finlandais a impressionné lors de ses débuts en EWC pour TRT27 Bazar 2 La Bécane lors de la finale du Bol d’Or en septembre dernier. Il revient pour une campagne EWC d’une saison, après avoir changé d’équipe et troqué la Suzuki pour la Yamaha. Associé à Enzo Boulom, Luca De Vleeschauwer et Maximilian Scheib, Lahti a l’intention de poursuivre sur la lancée de ce qu’il a montré sur le Circuit Paul Ricard il y a cinq mois.
Eemeli Lahti says he and his new Pit-Lane Endurance team-mates are “100 per cent going to fight for wins” in the FIM Endurance World Cup in 2024, adding that nobody in the France-based outfit is “just there to ride the bikes”.
The talented Finn impressed on his EWC debut for TRT27 Bazar 2 La Bécane in last September’s Bol d’Or title decider. He returns for a season-long EWC campaign having switched teams and swapped Suzuki for Yamaha power. Partnering Enzo Boulom, Luca De Vleeschauwer and Maximilian Scheib, Lahti is intent on building on the promise he showed at Circuit Paul Ricard five months ago.
« Nous allons nous battre à cent pour cent pour les victoires et tous les membres de l’équipe ne sont pas seulement là pour piloter les motos, nous sommes tous là pour gagner », a déclaré le jeune homme de 27 ans.
« Du point de vue de la performance, nous serons dans le peloton de tête de la catégorie Superstock et je vois que nous avons aussi beaucoup de potentiel. Je suis impatient de tout mettre en œuvre pour l’EWC. Ce sera ma priorité à partir de maintenant. »
“One hundred per cent we are going to fight for the wins and everyone in the team is not just there to ride the bikes, we are all there to win,” said the 27-year-old. “Speed-wise we will be quite in the top in the Superstock class and I see we have loads of potential as well. I’m looking forward to put everything towards EWC. It will be my priority from now on.”
Lahti was a late addition to the TRT27 Bol d’Or attack following a recommendation by EWC legend Terry Rymer, world champion in 1992 and 1999. He heroically led the Dunlop-supplied Superstock category during the opening stages at Circuit Paul Ricard but eventually settled for eighth in class alongside then team-mates Tom Oliver and Tom Ward.
« L’équipage avec lequel j’étais était phénoménal, je m’amusais vraiment avec eux et je me sentais vraiment, vraiment bien avant la semaine de course », a déclaré Lahti. « Dans l’ensemble, c’était passionnant, fascinant, difficile, mais j’ai vraiment apprécié. Il y a eu des moments difficiles pendant la course, dans la nuit, mais c’était une expérience fantastique. Les deux premiers jours après la course, je me suis dit que je ne referais jamais ça. Mais quand je suis rentré en Finlande, j’étais sûr que j’allais recommencer, encore et encore.
Après s’être classée quatrième lors de la Coupe du monde d’endurance FIM par équipes en 2022, Pit-Lane Endurance a été classée 11e en 2023. Cependant, à chaque fois, l’équipe a gardé le meilleur pour la fin, terminant les saisons 2022 et 2023 avec la troisième position parmi les équipes Superstock au Bol d’Or.
“The crew I was with was phenomenal, I was really having a good time with them and felt really, really good coming into race week,” Lahti said. “Overall, it was exciting, fascinating, hard but I really did enjoy it. There were some down moments during the race, in the night, but it was a fantastic experience. The first two days after the race I was like, ‘I’m never going to do that again’. But when I was back in Finland I was quite sure I was going to do it again and again and again.”
After placing fourth in the 2022 FIM Endurance World Cup for Teams, Pit-Lane Endurance was ranked 11th in 2023. However, on both occasions the team saved its best to last, completing the 2022 and 2023 seasons with third position among the Superstock teams in the Bol d’Or.
Lahti rejoint une formation multinationale au Pit-Lane Endurance, qui comprend également Maximilian Scheib, 28 ans, du Chili – sa première signature a été annoncée fin décembre 2023 – Luca De Vleeschauwer, 21 ans, de Belgique, et Enzo Boulom, 27 ans, de France. Lahti joins a multi-national line-up at Pit-Lane Endurance, which also features Chilean Maximilian Scheib, 28 – its first signing announced in late December 2023 – 21-year-old Belgian Luca De Vleeschauwer and Frenchman Enzo Boulom, 27. Boulom switches to the Superstock division from the Formula EWC class, while De Vleeschauwer joined Pit-Lane Endurance for last season’s Bol d’Or having made his EWC debut earlier in the year.
